Artlink West Yorkshire – Creativity in Dementia Settings

Throughout November 2014 – January 2015 Artlink West Yorkshire are delivering a series of arts workshops with individuals living with dementia at Donisthorpe Hall.  This is a 10-week project with each workshop running for two hours per week.

Artlink West Yorkshire is a community arts organisation based in Leeds working across a diversity of sites with people who may not have the opportunity to access the arts.  We offer a broad spectrum of creative activity which is led by professional artists.  A brief example of the work we do includes; movement, photography, animation, sculpture, drama etc.  All workshops are tailored to meet individual needs, with the participant remaining in the centre of this creative work.

Over the course of this particular project, residents are working with two professional artists who specialise in the visual arts and creative writing/performance poetry, together with care staff and family members.  The artists are Becky Cherriman (www.beckycherriman.com) and Beverley Haines (www.beverleyhaines.co.uk).
